Macon County State’s Attorney Jay Scott announced today that he has established a Gang and Weapons Prosecution Unit in his office. The new unit will provide aggressive, coordinated prosecution of some of Macon County’s most dangerous criminals. Assistant State’s Attorney Pamela Domash has been named Lead Prosecutor of the unit, and David Cook has been assigned as the unit’s Investigator. Both will be attending gang prosecution and investigation training to enhance their skills.

Domash has prosecuted most of the office’s gang related cases since early 2014, obtaining felony convictions on 23 known gang members. Those convictions have resulted in prison sentences totaling 148.5 years, with three defendants still awaiting sentencing.

“Gangs have been responsible for a lot of our violent crime, so we’ve been very aggressive in prosecuting them,” Scott said. “Pam was a natural choice to lead the new unit. She’s a good prosecutor, and has been very successful taking down gang members and weapons offenders. She’s worked closely with the Decatur Police Department to remove many of them from our streets already. The Gang and Weapons Prosecution Unit will allow us to be even more effective in protecting our community.”
